Meet author Beth M. Caruso

Connecticut-based author and advocate Beth M. Caruso wrote the Connecticut Witch Trials Trilogy. A historical fiction series, the trilogy chronicles the life and trial of Alice “Alse” Young. In 1647, Connecticut hanged Alice for witchcraft. She was the first person hanged for witchcraft in New England.

Beth has been a longtime advocate for exonerating and memorializing the victims of Connecticut’s witch trials. Together with Tony Griego, she founded CT WITCH Memorial. This highly engaged Facebook community honors the memories of the witch trial victims with informative posts. In 2022, Beth co-founded the Connecticut Witch Trial Exoneration Project. Along with CT WITCH Memorial and dozens of volunteers, the Project promoted legislation to clear those accused of witchcraft. Success came May 25, 2023, when the General Assembly absolved the victims.
